Heat Embossing over Embossing | Getting back my crafty mojo

Any occasion, Cards

Hi Everyone! I’m still getting setup in my new house and I’ve been struggling to find my crafty mojo with so much happening in my life these days. I finally forced myself to sit down and create a card, start to finish, to try to get my mojo flowing.

I have a tutorial video to share. You can watch it below, or over on my YouTube channel.

When I struggle with crafty inspiration, I usually try one of two things: consult some card sketches, or create a card from start to finish. I find that just getting started is often the hardest part, so these tricks really seem to help me. If you’re looking for sketches you can try these two that I really love: My Favorite Things Blueprints Sketches, and CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge Blog.

Altenew | Succulents Thank You

Cards, Thank You Cards

Hi crafty friends! I’m popping in to share a thank you card that I created using stamps from Altenew, as well as some Distress Inks.

Of course there’s a how-to video to share. You can watch it below, or over on the Zed Squared Crafts YouTube channel.

Today’s post is going to be short and sweet. I’m in the middle of a big move so I’m still getting settled into my new house. I will be back again soon with lots more card making how-to videos. In the meantime, thank you so much for all your support!

Concord & 9th | One Layer Card

Any occasion, Cards

Hi friends! I hope spring has sprung where you live, because where I live, right on Georgian Bay, most of our snow has melted and we had quite a few days above zero this week. It’s hard not to have a huge smile on my face while the sun is shinning and I’m out with my pups, Zip and Zoë (a.k.a. Zed²).

For today’s card share, I created a simple one-layer card. I’ve been dying to use my new Tree Ring Background stamp from Concord and 9th, so I just had to make a card that truly showcased how lovely it is.

I have a how-to video to share. You can watch it below, or over on my YouTube channel.

I kept this card very simple, to let the detail of the background stamp shine. Of course I had to add little razzle dazzle, so I did that with a few Sparkling Clear sequins (the “little things”), and some clear Wink of Stella for good measure.

Lawn Fawn | Saint Patrick’s Day

Cards

Hi Friends! I’m popping in today to share a fun Saint Patrick’s day card. For today’s card I’m using stamps from Lawn Fawn and my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.

I have a how-to video for you. You can watch it below, or over on my YouTube channel.

I’m pleased with how my card turned out. I’m a little out of practice with my Spectrum Noir markers so it felt great to pull those out again, even just for the small images. I explain in my video how I started my shading with a lighter colour before moving darker so that I wouldn’t be too heavy handed.

Before I sign off, I just want to mention that my content will be a little light for the next few weeks. I have a big move coming up, as well as an exam so my time for crafting is very limited. Thank you so so much to everyone who is sticking with me, it means the world to me that you still encourage and provide me with so much support.

Simon Says Stamp | Have a Lovely Day

Any occasion, Cards

Hi Friends! Spring is in the air on the Zed Squared Crafts blog today. I’m ready to move into springtime, so I created this card to get me in the mood. I used stamps and inks that I got from a recent haul from Simon Says Stamp that I just couldn’t wait to break in.

As usual, I have a how-to video to share. You can watch it below, or over on my YouTube channel.

I’m so happy with how this card turned out. It did exactly as I hoped, and was a breath of fresh spring air.
